- These release notes contain late-breaking information on
- Sound Bar. For continuing access to Sound Bar changes and
- updates, visit our Web site at http://www.midisoft.com. Be sure
- to register so that we can keep you up to date on Sound Bar.

- Please note the following:
- ----------------------------------------------------

- - You can use the Internet Shortcuts located in the Midisoft
- Sound Bar program group to access the Midisoft web pages,
- or to register Sound Bar through the web.
- - Sound Bar requires that your mail system support
- simple MAPI (such as in MS Exchange) to send and
- receive audio mail.
- - NetScape 2.0 supports MS Exchange as a
- mail client.
- - You must have Windows Media Player installed on
- your computer for Sound Bar to work correctly. See
- the section below for instructions on installing
- Media Player.
- - To take full advantage of different audio compression
- settings on your computer, make sure the Audio
- Compression codecs have been installed. See below for
- instructions on installing the codecs.
- - Sound Bar doesn't correctly manipulate certain controls
- on some Pro Audio Spectrum(TM) 16 sound cards. These controls
- are the mute/select for CD Audio, wave output, and MIDI
- output. To use these controls on your sound card, use the
- MS Volume control (double click the speaker icon on the
- task bar).
- - Sound Bar supports the following audio compression codecs:
- * PCM
- * GSM 6.10
- * Microsoft ADPCM
- * DSP Group TrueSpeech(TM)
- If you have sound files encoded using a different compression
- codec, load the file in Sound Recorder (SndRec32.exe),
- convert it to one of the above codecs, and save.

- To install Media Player

- 1. Open the Add/Remove programs applet from the
- Control Panel.
- 2. Click on the Windows Setup tab.
- 3. Click the Multimedia Component, and then click properties
- 4. Click the Media Player checkbox (if it is already
- checked, Media Player is already installed).
- 5. Click OK.
- 6. Click OK.

- To install Audio Compression
- ----------------------------------------------------

- 1. Open the Add/Remove programs applet from the
- Control Panel.
- 2. Click on the Windows Setup tab.

- Uninstalling Sound Bar
- ----------------------------------------------------

- To uninstall Sound Bar, exit Sound Bar, open the
- Add/Remove Programs applet from the Control Panel,
- select 'Midisoft Sound Bar' from the listbox, and
- click the Add/Remove button. Follow the prompts to
- uninstall Sound Bar.
